It all started back in the garden of Eden. Adam and Eve were created in God’s image and enjoyed perfect fellowship with each other and with God. There was only one rule, they weren’t to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. But, they did.

That was when sin entered the world, along with various curses including death. “By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.”Gen 3:19.

The first prophecy about Jesus was given in the same chapter when God said to the serpent, “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head and you will strike his heel.” Gen 3:15.

Some time later the law was given through Moses, and this included instructions regarding various sacrifices. One of these sacrifices was the guilt offering. “He is to bring to the priest as a guilt offering a ram from the flock, one without defect and of the proper value. In this way the priest will make atonement for him for the wrong he has committed unintentionally and he will be forgiven.” Lev 5:18.

We read in Isaiah that Jesus became the guilt offering for all of us: “Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the Lord makes his life a guilt offering, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand.” Isaiah 53:10.

We have all done something wrong, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of god.” Rom 3:23.

However, “..the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Rom 6:23.

And the good news is that “if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord”, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Rom 10:9.
