Our response

The call of Christ to each one of us to follow him is both very simple and costly.

In calling his followers Jesus would often simply use the phrase “ Repent and believe”.

Repent:  to turn away from sin and to turn to Christ Jesus; and

Believe: to believe that Jesus died and rose again to pay the price for our sins.

Jesus also spoke of the cost of being a follower, which is to give up everything to follow him. Jesus gave up his life for us, and he calls us to live for him, whatever that means for us.

If we do pray, saying sorry for the things we’ve done wrong, believing in Jesus and turning our lives to him, then the bible does give assurance that we can know that we will be saved and go to heaven. In Romans 10:9 we read, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you shall be saved.”

Also 1 John 1:9, “ If we confess our sins God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
